Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I get to Crested Butte?
A: Good question! CB is an awesome town and a bit off the beaten path. The cheapest option is to fly into Denver and rent a car. The drive from Denver is about 4 hours and 30ish minutes. We encourage folks to share rides and rental cars - closer to our date we’ll set up some sort of rides spreadsheet. If you prefer, the closest airport to CB is Gunnison. From there, CB is about a 30-40 minute drive away. You can rent a car in Gunnison OR you can get a ride from Alpine Express (http://alpineexpressshuttle.com/) to/from Crested Butte. Other nearby airports are Montrose and Grand Junction.Q: Where should I stay?
A: We made a list of some great spots to stay in town on our travel/lodging page. One thing to note is there are two distinct spots in Crested Butte: The Town and The Ski Mountain. The town is the hub of restaurants, bars, and where we’ll be out and about on Friday night and Saturday after the reception - so we encourage folks to find lodging in town if possible rather than on the ski mountain.Q: What should I wear?
A: This is a wedding so dress classy! But keep in mind we are in the mountains - so mountain-chic?Q: Where should I get groceries?
A: If you’re driving through Gunnison, City Market is the last nice grocery store before CB. Within CB proper there is Clarks, however the prices are steep and the produce isn’t that great.Q: Where can I find a babysitter?
A: Reach out to Laura, CB Babysitting Co-op: cbbabysitterscoop@gmail.com, https://cbbabysitterscoop.weebly.comQ: How do I get to the ceremony/reception at RMBL on 9/8?
A: We’re going to shuttle you! Stay tuned for an email/website update closer to the event for shuttle information. There is NO parking at RMBL so you must take our shuttle Our ceremony/reception is happening at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory - a research site/old ghost town ~30min from town nestled under Gothic Mountain.Q: What are some awesome activities I can do while I’m in CB?
A: It will be a lovely time of year for fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, trail running, rock climbing, and much more. We’ll update this website soon with specific suggestions, or just reach out to us directly if you have questions on a specific zone or activity. A: Email us and let us know!Q: How do I get around once I’m in CB?
A: If you’re in town-proper, you can basically walk to any bar or restaurant! Locals like to get around on cruiser bikes. If you opt to go car-less, there are plenty of hikes/walks/experiences you can do right from town.Q: How do I deal with elevation?
A: Crested Butte is at 8,909' and RMBL (ceremony/reception) is at 9,485 - so be prepared! Drink lots of water, don’t be surprised if you’re out of breath from walking up a flight of stairs, and you may be under the table after drinking just one or two Colorado IPAs. If you’re the type that likes to go on a 20 mile trail run, maybe tone it down to an 8 mile trail run ;)![]()
